I've been feeling like the school kid without a cool avatar here so I went a lookin' - and made my selection.

Why Hobbes?
I have always been a Calvin and Hobbes fan (and Peanuts, Bloom County. and a few more). Bill Watterson and Charles Schultz were the two cartoonists who got childhood right (at least suburban American childhood). They also deftly wove the insights and ironies of life into their work, making me laugh and think.

I'm probably more like the mouthy scatterbrained daydreamer Calvin than the loyal, cool and intelligent Hobbes but I think I will stick with Hobbes for the avatar.

So, now I will see if this works.
