Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.
welcome! I am a newbie too. Have been nosing two weeks today. It is working really well for me.
I haven't weighed myself but I feel tons better and my clothes are fitting better.
From what I understand it is really about developing the habits and not only weight loss but the ability to really enjoy and take pleasure in food again will follow.

It hasnt been too difficult. THe worse time was when I was cooking supper. I was incredibly hunger and the temptation to snack or sample while I was cooking was strong. BUT I didnt!
Today was my first S day. It went well. I slept late, something I rarely do, so I ended up not eating breakfast. I did eat lunch and supper. I treated my self mid afaternoon with a small ice-cream sandwich. I swear, after a week of no sweets, nothing tasted better than that icecream. I savored every bite.
This first week was really good. I slept better this week and had more energy during the day. I even dropped 4 pounds.
That surprised me. I wasn't expecting to lose any. May mostly be water weight, who knows.
Day 7 An S day!
Today went well.
I woke up and had a bowl of cereal for breakfast.
I cooked a big lunch; roast chicken, stuffing, corn, green beans and rolls. I only had one plate. But it was all I wanted.
Didnt crave any sweets today, so I didnt eat any.
I worked in my yard all afternoon. Am feeling very tired now and not hungry at all. I may skip supper as it is almost 7 here and just go to bed early.

Today, I only got hungry about 5 to 10 minutes before my meal times!! Amazing!!!
I know I say this all the time, but I am LOVING this new way of eating.
Today, another teacher offered me a hershey bar WITH almonds.......yum, but I politely said, no thank you.
It was really no problem, because I know if I really want one, I can have one in just a few days. and it will be worth the wait!

***sigh*** feeling a little depressed tonight. Well, depressed is prob. a bit too strong...feeling down would better describe it.
Will prob. just turn in early so I wont be tempted to drown my sorrows.

I started the No S on Monday 14th. I love drinking Coke and have not had one since Sunday night. I have had more energy and not so sleeply. Sometimes when my students are reading it was hard to stay awake and listen to them!!! I am very happy with the diet so far and I can understand the reasoning why this works. I hope you don't mind me joining this group!
Skipped breakfast because I slept though it! (was at the ER until 4:30am with my dad)
Fun lunch had fried pork loins and ovenfried potatoes.
Ate a brownie (YUM) for lunch.

Then for a late lunch, early supper, I made beans/weenies. I LOVE baked beans/weenies. I had been craving it for a while.
And it was so worth the wait!! YUM.

I can NOT believe I start week 3 tomorrow!!!!! woo hoo!

Been a tough few days. Dad in the hospital again. He has pneumonia.
Surprsingly enough I have been able to stick to this plan. The only thing is I have been REALLY craving a sugar soda.
I waited until I got home tonight and drank a small glass of OJ, hoping that would help hold back the craving...It did the trick :=)

Wasnt very hungry today. I didnt eat 3 meals, nor did I really snack. I did have a cinnamon roll with breakfast. At lunch, instead of eating a 'normal' meal, Ihad fritos and sausage dip. Was not hungry anymore the rest of the day. Had a SMALL handful of m&m's. and that was it. Never got hungry anymore the rest of the day.

Didnt over do it.
ONly had 2 meals again.
and a handful of peanut m & m's.
My daughter bought me a frosty from Wendy's. So I had that as well.
