toro's check

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

toro's check

Post by Toro »

Been doing this for about 5 months. Was perfect at first, then after the holidays, little cheats began sneaking in so to get my mind right I'm going to check -in daily.

Day 1-yesterday: partial success, I finished the last few of my wife's tostitos after supper. See what I mean about little cheats. Good so far today, will make day 2 report tomorrow.

Day2: Success. Had a little twinge craving for a snack a couple of hours after supper because of the prior cheating but fought it off okay.

Best of luck. Checking is probably a really good idea. I may have to steal that idea from you. I know what you mean about the little cheating thing......

Day 6: S day
Day 7: S day Today had a nice meal at the 99 restaurant. They have these $11.99 bistro meals where the menu has 3 different appetizers, 3 different entrees and 3 different desserts and you mix and match. I had:

Corn and chicken chowder
Pork chop with veggies
Brownie sundae(not too big)

I thought this was a great S day meal.

Day 15: Good day! Also, I decided to get off my fat derrieire and add in some much needed excercise. The wife has booked us for a Mexico beach vacation in May and I don't want to look like a beached whale.

So I walked 30 minutes and also went to the gym and pumped a little iron. Intend on trying to walk every day and lift weights 3 times a week.
