16 pounder arrived...

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

16 pounder arrived...

Post by Kevin »

Holy Crap! My old one was stamped 14, but I seriously doubt it...

This thing feels like a VW bug on the end of a wood handle...

You'll be amazed how quickly you get used to it. Every upgrade feels impossible at first, but now my old hammers feel like toys.

That's exactly what I thought when I went from 5kg to 6kg - no way can it be this heavy!

After two or three weeks it was business as usual.

heavier, but not that bad

Post by Kevin »

The 16 pounder is heavier, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I did a little less than usual last night, but not a whole lot. My arms were burning a little more.

Really, it was just the way that big piece of metal on the end of a (skinnier) handle looked.

You probably have the same model hammer I do now and I was also surprised when I took mine out of the box. Have fun!

Where do you order a 16lbs hammer from?

Go to the Shovelglove Home page (see the link at the top of this bulletin board page) and click on the Sledgehammer Store link. Free shipping, and it arrived in about three days. $10 cheaper than the local Home Depot!
