Warmup at start of shovelglove session

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

I do 50 hindu squats, 50 pushups, and 10 pullups.

If you are talking a Shovelglove move oriented warmup, I like churning butter because it's a full body movement (the way I do it) and it's easy on my back. Non-Shovelglove I use pushups, rope skipping, and riding my Indo Board.

15-20 burpees
before you ask a burpees is
standup straight
squat
kick out your legs so your in a pushup position
do pushup
bring legs back in
jump back to starting position
do without pausing at the start position repeat ad naseum
Marreta you got that? In Brasil, it means sledgehammer!

Those Burpees were what the school gym teachers used to do to test our endurance (and torture us) in grade school!
I remember them being killer!!! :lol:

As for Shovelglove warmups, I say you can do pretty much any movement, or even side stepping back and forth, just to get a little blood flowing.. Just go slowly till you are really feeling warmed up.

I don't do a warm up. I do a cool down of shadow boxing afterwards (in lieu of stretching).

I do the "Great Salutation" Vinyasa series of yoga moves, twice on each side.

Then do it once per side after work out. I found it leaves me with no soreness, and i am more more effective during the work out, as my joints are ready to go and my posture is good.

I would suggest everyone try it, especially if they're feeling stiff from the day before.
