Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.
I've decided to return to No S, after a long time of not sticking to it.
I weighed myself a few days ago, around the 16th, and was 219 lbs. I'll weigh again on the 23rd, and weekly thereafter.
Today has been a SUCCESS.
I've had two square meals + a breakfast of coffee (I was working a 24 hr shift and was busy this morning). Overall, I'm delighted at how today has gone, and I'm looking forward to another successful Nday tomorrow.

A recent thought I've considered is that some people might do better to start with 4 meals a day. Plan for it ahead of time, and have a planned mid-afternoon snack, or perhaps some people would do better with a planned pre-bed snack. That is a little less scary in the beginning.
Sorry I'm just short of 5 months late in replying - I think I need to form the habit of actually logging on here daily, as much as I do forming good, solid No-S habits.
The last 5 months have been a bit of a trash fire but I am going to try again.
Tomorrow and Sunday are technically allowable as S days, but I'm going to attempt to kick off my dietary revamp by avoiding the unholy triad of Snacks, Sweets, and Seconds until at least next weekend. If I find that I can't do this, since sweet things are my biggest problem, then whatever sweets I do eat, I will consume as a "meal".
I'll weigh in, and also share what my meals consisted of, starting from tomorrow.

Edited to say that Yesterday was a SUCCESS. It was an S day, but I often struggle to control my eating on those days, and I did better than I thought I would, so definitely a success.
