Helen's check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Helen's check in

Post by The_Key »

Hello I have been doing the No S for a few weeks now but not at 100%, more like 90%. My grown up son is also doing the No S diet but at 100% and he said its easier to do at 100% as there is no room to think about changing the rules, you just do it properly all the time.

I work in an office where we have a lot of snacks and it seems wrong, almost rude not to join in especially as sometimes they raise money for charity but as my son said I should just contribute but politely say 'no thank you' to the food.

I think the No S is the key as it is so simple, when I think it is easy it catches me out by being so difficult! I know it's not going to be a quick fix.

I understand the beauty of it is that it does actually get easier over time, this is something I am really looking forward to witnessing.

I plan to have fruit and/or veg with every meal (3 meals a day) on my No S days then on my S days I am going to eat what I want when I want with only one rule and that's eat nothing after my evening meal.

I am going for a 20 day streak.

Wish me luck!

Thanks, yes move on with new rule. NoS days are just that but S days are anything anytime. Other plan is not to walk past cakes at work, I am able to avoid this so I think it will help. Also started a 90 day streak!
Wish me luck x

I often use the "avert my eyes" technique to avoid looking at and thinking about treats at work. I've used this avoidance method for many months, and highly recommend it. So I like your idea of finding a different route around the sweets!

Made the week without chocolate and today it is allowed! I am planning what chocolate to have and when to have it. I am looking forward to it but I want the experience to be so good it lasts in my memory until next weekend!

Well my weekend rules are there are no rules but I will practice mindfully eating because that is what I do now.

90-7 = 83 today and 90-8 = 82 tomorrow, I could in double figures by Monday

Hi, I am on a countdown of 90 day streak. If I do today as No S it will be 90-10 = 80 days left of my streak and I am on Day 10 (double figures!!) lol:

Had a great S weekend, really relaxed and nibbled but did not overeat I can see why the S days need to be relaxed at the start of this wonderful change.

Yesterday was OK, really ready for my evening meal and I wasn't late to bed but today I feel very focused!
