Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.
I'm actually a newbie! I just started a week ago today and it's been fairly easy so far. I didn't even go overboard on the S days. Today was a success with no funny business. My sis also started the same day as me so there's some extra support there. This diet makes a lot of sense. With other "diets" you never know when your next treat will be because they are always off limits or you feel like you're cheating. With this, I know that I'll have something I want on S days. Gives me something to look forward to.
a newbie party sounds good, as long as it's on an S day!
Day 8: A success. It started out hectic. I forgot to set the alarm and made it to work on time with 2 minutes to spare. I didn't have time for breakfast at home, so I was happy that I didn't grab a donut or poptart from the vending machine!
Day 9: Success!! Not the healthiest choices, but still no snacks and no sweets. An unexpected side effect: less frequent heartburn. Not sure why, but I like it!
That's great to hear about the less frequent heartburn. I've noticed some nice side effects too. Less gas. ( ...that's embarrassing to talk about)

Day 11:SUCCESS! Wish I could say the same maskedlioness I love this NoSdiet. I feel so in CONTROL! I've miscalculated my days. Today is actually day 11.
day 14 success. Had one sweet and one snack, but did NOT go overboard. also walked for about 45 minutes with the dog. Looking forward to another week of successes.
Good job! It's much better to pile the plate than to break the rules. At the beginning I had to pile my plates pretty high sometimes to make it between meals, but they are shrinking as I go along.
"You've been reading about arctic explorers," I accused him. "If a man's starving he'll eat anything, but when he's just ordinarily hungry he doesn't want to clutter up his stomach with a lot of candy."
Dashiell Hammett
Very true Hunter.Didn't pile my plate nearly as high today!
Day 16:Success!
Still parking farther from the job.
Didn't get to walk today. Cold and Rainy
Success
Walked 45 minutes.
Today was a lot harder for some reason. I really wanted something sweet, but I'm holding on. Day 21 is just around the corner!
Day 18.
Another very hard day, but still a SUCCESS! I really wanted something sweet and a snack. Didn't exercise, but still held off on messing up. Can't wait for the S days!
day 19 Success!
still hard, but I know tomorrow i can have something I have been craving all week and that's my mocha and muffin for breakfast. 2 more days to 21! I did have a couple of pieces of gum(not sugarfree), but I don't consider that to be a failure(right?).
Yesterday was a good S day and I didn't go overboard. I even managed 20 minutes of walking until it started to rain I didn't stuff myself and still had something I wanted. Today is day 21 !!!
Will post in the 21 club tonight!
Day 23
exercise
I'm still doing well, but I'm still having a hard time fighting off the cravings after supper. I WANT more, but I know that I'm not really hungry.
day 28
Still doing well on the NoS thing. My Goal is to make better choices ofr my 3 meals. Haven't weighed myself yet. Gonna wait awhile before I do that.
day 37
Still doing well on the NoS, but not seeing any significant changes. Have worked in about 3 30-40 minute walks a week, plus parking further away from work.
did horrible this past week! 2 days off of no S besides my S days and NO exercise! I've GOT to get back on this week with better choices. I have been doing No S for over a month and I think I've actually gained weight because of my food choices. I'm not giving up though!
