Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.
Day 1: Dec. 30,2012
S-day
Had a good day, even though it was an S, I had more self-control over sweets than I've had in a while. I'm feeling good about this at the moment, hopefully this feeling will carry me through, til the habit starts kicking in!

Day 2:
Day went great. Had my 3 meals, then we were invited to a last minute New Years Eve get together. I'm very happy with the choice I made. Didn't eat any of the pizza/chips/dip/etc., since I'd already had supper. I did allow myself to try a small treat, but I felt fine with that. It didn't make me want to eat more or fall off the wagon. This is the first time in a long time that I've felt normal and in control of my eating! I think part of the battle is just surrendering and letting the no-s principles take over. I'm excited for the new year and can't wait to be a testimonial!

Day 3: Happy New Year's!
1st exempt S day for January.
Day was a little crazy since Hubby was off work and we slept in. So I got a little off schedule in my eating, can't wait for tomorrows normal routine to be back.

Day 4 and Day 5: Well after my "Gun-Ho" super- motivated start, life happened.. sigh.. I know, I know. There's always going to be situations to handle, I just need to change my mindset and learn to be more prepared. Need to remind myself, This is a journey not a quick-fix. I'm going to do my best to have a great day tomorrow instead of waiting til Monday.

Had one Full day of Success on Wed. The other days that were red, weren't a "binge all day" red, I did stick to the 3 meal plan but had a sweet with my meal or seconds. So I guess that's better than I usually do. Baby Steps...

Thanks so much for all the replies! I'm happy to report that Mon, Tue and Wed. are SUCCESS days! Yay! I realized that I need to take it slow and work one thing at a time, so I've stuck with the 3 meal plan and told myself that I could have a second or sweet as long as it was with 1 meal. I haven't always had something, but just knowing "I can" has helped greatly. I'm just going to focus on that this month, maybe for a couple of months and as I feel stronger, work towards Vanilla No-S.

Well after my 3 successful days in a row, Thursday started out good, Then wham we were hit with a winter snow storm and lost our electricity!
SO that put a tailspin on things, the generator also kept going out. Without the appliances, I'm sad to say, we ate alot of snacky, junky food. It's amazing the control that electronics have on our daily lives!
Anyway, SO thankful it's now back on and looking forward to some more greens next week!

Had a MAJOR FAIL week!
I did start each day out good, then stress came and so did the food.
Well, pity party over, going to keep plodding along til it becomes habit. There is nothing left to go back to that will give me sanity, NoS is the only thing for me! I just need to buckle down and stop making something so simple, SO hard. There are four N days left in January, let's see if I can get em to be green!
On the up side it's been almost a month, so I weighed today. Pleasantly surprised that I stayed the same, I felt like I've gained. Must be doing something right, I'll take maintenance over gaining any day!
I've also read some other posts about weighing everyday for a week, to get an average, I think I may start doing that instead.

February started out great. Then got a little off track, it's hard getting fully back on, little slips here and there. But I'm NOT giving up!! Going to keep doing this, just want to get more green days each month. January had only 5 green days, so my goal for Feb. is at least 6 green days.
Feb. 1 SUCCESS
Feb2-3 S Days
Feb. 4 SUCCESS
Feb. 5 SUCCESS
Feb. 6 SUCCESS
Feb. 7 FAIL
Feb. 8 FAIL
Feb. 9-10 S Days
Feb.11FAIL
Feb.12FAIL

Thanks No-BS, MJ7 and Amy! I don't have internet access unless I come to my parents house, so I bought a small calender and put it on my fridge. Seeing lots of Red'' but Still hanging in there! I'm having trouble getting complete success days, they're more like 3/4 or sometimes 1/2 days. I keep reminding myself, patience and persistence, not perfection! I'm trying to work a lot on some of the mind games right now as well. I believe that's a big key for me!
I'm very glad that, Slow and Steady wins the race!

Well if it makes you feel any better to have company, I too have had lots of reds since I started back up at this in January - exactly two reds every week! But I keep telling myself, two red days means three green...and that is three days better than i was doing before. So we just have to keep on working on it, it will come.
