No Snacks, no sweets, no seconds. Except on Days that start with S. Too simple for you? Simple is why it works. Look here for questions, introductions, support, success stories.
I stumbled upon your website while avoiding working on my dissertation.
It all just makes such good sense. I am 40 years old and have steadily been gaining a few pounds a year for the last 15 years. You do the math = YIKES! I do recall that when I was younger I did not have a weight problem. This made me think about what I did differently then. As it turns out, I ate only three meals a day. My mom did not beleive in snacking and we had sweets only for speacial occasions like birthdays and holidays. I also walked or rode my bike everywhere I went. I have to try No S just because it really is a simple solution to problem I've been pretending was impossibly complex. I'm overweight because I eat too much food and it is food that I do not need to live. Thanks for reminding me that this is not rocket science!
I began No S-ing last Wednesday and love the simplicity of the plan.
I look forward to joining this community, hearing your stories, and sharing my experiences.

Sell your cleverness and live in bewilderment. - Viktor Frankel
It doesn't surprise me that no-s sounds a lot like how you ate when you were younger. No-s is basically just the explicit "80% solution" codification of how most people ate for a variety of social and cultural reasons before the "obesity epidemic." Eating moderately is not a complex problem -- most people throughout most of history pulled it off (even after food scarcity was no longer the chief issue).
Hope it works as well for you as it has for me. I look forward to hearing more from you.
Welcome Rudie and good luck!
Avoiding your dissertation eh?
Ha!
NoS won't work fast, but it will work steadily!
Commit to it, and you will see results!
And it is so simple it won't even take you away from you dissertation writing!
(unless you are still avoiding it!)
Welcome. Even when you have the occasional 'stray' on NoS, if you stick to it most of the time you'll see results. Slow but sure. It is so simpleand I'm hooked.
