Re: New here with a few questions - portion size and drinks
Does a meal need to be concluded in a certain amount of time? I don't time my meals. I prepare the food, put on the table, serve myself, eat and carry on my day. Does anyone have a recommendation of a portion-control plate? I use a 9 inch plate with a bowl for a salad. If you're having a drink (say ...

Re: Hunger
I learned the same thing with 5:2 fasting. I wouldn't eat for 24 hours and survived. Yes, it is possible to go without eating and not fall over dead.
I didn't like it much, so I do the 16:8 fast, more or less. I want to think less about food and do the same thing every day. Obsessing over food is a ...

Re: Hunger
This is a timely post. I just finished listening to the podcast on snacking and how it has contributed to the obesity rate in the world. Since most of us snack to assuage the hunger felt in-between meals, this podcast was poignant to me: http://everydaysystems.com/podcast/episode.php?id=28.

" Better to cultivate discipline than to rely on motivation. Motivation is fleeting and it's easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. Motivation comes to you, and you don't have to chase after it.

Why a person gets motivated to do something and then loses that motivation is beyond my understanding. The same thing happens to me.
What seems to help me was the following:
- purchase the No S Diet book. It is well written and provided the need kick to stay on this way of eating.

Re: Food Addiction and just need to talk
There is no conflict, as far as I can see. Why not eat a plateful of veggies with protein? Leave out the snacks between meals. The trainer already has you off the sugar laden food. What did he suggest for breakfast?
It seems he should be concentrating on the exercise.

Wow, do you drink only water in-between meals? Coffee really helps to calm the hunger I have, but tea does the trick as well. I like a little hunger, but not for hours and hours.oolala53 wrote:Oh, I didn't stop drinking it. Just between meals. I drink it with the works and I was using it as a crutch.

Re: Not doing all 3 S's at once?
I've been working on No S since January, and besides one 7 week stint I've not had many good weeks. I've decided to focus on 2 of the S's at this point. No snacking and no seconds. I allow myself a sweet at the end of the day. Since I've been doing this for this many months without a lot of success ...

Welcome. I have following this way of eating for 17 days. So far, I have had no desire to eat snacks - except on Saturdays.
I am currently relishing feeling hungry at meal time. I so much want to enjoy the food I eat that it overrides the desire to eat snacks.

Re: Weighing in
I am weighing once a week on Saturday. You may find over time that you gradually go down on a Tuesday.
I would say, yes, you should weigh more after eating more. I hear the amount eaten on an S day goes down as time goes on. You just don't want that much food.
