Success. Had to eat out for dinner, but nothing excessive (ate at one of the few places around that actually provides reasonable portion sizes).
Walked to work too (~1 hour walk). It was too late to walk home today (dark) but hopefully will do it tomorrow.

I think what you're saying is some good advice, and I agree with it. The problem is that sometimes it is very hard to do that, especially when things go wrong in my work (I'm a research scientist) that I cannot control. For example, if I grow bacteria and they for some unknown reason decide to grow ...

Hi there,
First, to any of you people out there who will immediately want to say "oh, you're making excuses for yourself"--here's my disclaimer--I'M NOT. I'm not saying that my failures are somehow the fault of external circumstances.

Rats! A few weeks ago I pulled a muscle in my back, and despite attempting to be careful about exercise, it's all tensed up again. I might actually be forced to sit around, which I hate (the past month, I was afflicted with a chest cold from Hades, plus the messed-up back ...

Hi,
It's good to see this whole bulletin board is still thriving. I've been gone for a while. Professionally, I've had a lot of good things going on, which has kept me very, very busy. Personally, I've been struggling with relationship issues. Both of these have contributed to me partially falling ...

Hi,

Ditto on what Pangelsue said. I have worked really long hours sometimes and had to have a mini-meal (e.g. an apple and a small amount of nuts) in between lunch and dinner, otherwise I'd come home dizzy with hunger. Hi,
I'm feeling a bit like Sisyphus, the guy from Greek mythology who was condemned to roll a huge rock up a hill forever; it would always escape him and roll back down to the bottom, so he'd have to do it again. And again. And again.
