Trying again today
I took Friday off last week. I twinged something in my shoulder (I think). It just felt a little off on Friday, so I didn't do SG. I had started about a week ago and on Thursday, I went pretty intense and unfortunately, I did not hear my timer go off, so I am not sure how long I actually did it. I ...

I was going to UR to work this morning (2.5 miles), but my dear wife told me it was too hot today. Do you find temperature extremes keeping you from otherwise enjoying a nice walk?

I really like the 14 minute idea. I'll be sticking with that. However, I am fortunate enough to have a olympic style free weight system in my basement. So, this is the planned workout for the foreseeable future (subject to change on my whim, of course).

Reinhard's idea of the antibookmark is really interesting as I spend entirely too much time online. I have now started using LeechBlock, which is a Firefox add on. I tried NoS for a little over a week about a year ago. I was doing it to write a series of blog posts about it. I have now been back doing it, in earnest, for about 3 weeks. So far so good. I have had 1 red day and even then, I didn't throw in the towel.

My Own Personal Olympics
I have a dry-erase board in my kitchen. On the board each day, I add a number if I have been successful. So, if I have been successful 5 days in a row, I write 5, and just keep adding until I stumble. In the other corner, I also have a place for my personal record, which gives me something to shoot ...

Hi all, I am a tall guy, 6'4". Though my house has 9 foot ceilings, am I in danger of sticking a hammer throughh my ceiling on some of my movements? For example, with butter churning, I can imagine some potential problems. How have other tall shuggers handled this?

I certainly agree that correlation does not equal causation, however there are many studies that find significant correlations between drinking diet soda and numerous weight related issues (take your pick-increased obesity, increased weight circumference, increased blood glucose).

Re: Am having problems! Please help...
Hi everyone
I am about 15 kilos overweight (I mean, I could lose even more, but I think with 15 kilos I'd look really good & would feel healthy). I really really want to lose it, as I have problems even with walking up stairs, I'm not fit, and I also don't like the way I look at the moment. But I ...

Huge Plates
I just went to a restaurant for lunch and the plate of food they brought me was probably large enough to feed most of my family. I stopped about 1/3 of the way through. Just because you can eat 1 plate of food for each meal, doesn't mean you need to.

My first two weeks on NoS, I lost quite a bit of weight, though the last two weeks I have gained about 1.5 pounds. Although frustrating, I think there are possible explanations.
1) The last two weekends have definitely been "permasnacking" weekends. I think it would be beneficial to honor meals on ...

Re: Thoughts for our Moderator or anyone who has input
Think about it, growing up - I think most of us (or else I just lived a very deprived existence) ate basically the same breakfast each day, maybe varying a bit on the weekends but we didn't have dozens of options each day. And lunch was basically a sandwich and a piece of fruit or the school menu ...

Improved sense of smell
I find that when I am eating well, my sense of smell is much more acute. Tonight, someone brought along Scotcharoos and I could smell them from across the room. I think this is a good thing.

10 commandments of weight loss
I came up with these thoughts the other day that have been useful in my weight loss journey. Call them suggestions if you prefer.
1. Thou shalt eat actual meals -Society has been handed a bill of goods that we need to eat regularly throughout the day. If we actually ate fewer calories at meals ...

Does the size of a person affect the results?
I am 6'4" and currently weigh about 245, though I weighed about 370 at my highest. My basal metabolic rate, the number of calories I need without ever moving, is much higher than a woman who is 4'11" and weighs 120 pounds. If I eat 3 normal plates everyday, it doesn't really matter what I put on ...

Re: My everyday breakfast
Thanks for posting this! We aren't big oatmeal fans (as cereal, anyway), but this sounds both tasty and nutritious. Hopefully, the family will agree![/quote]
I have rarely met anyone who doesn't like this--including non-oatmeal people (which I used to be). This is now my most comforting food.

Best breakfast I've ever had and in fact, I eat it everyday for breakfast (except sometimes on weekends ...
