Today has been a FAILURE . Not a bad one, but a failure nonetheless.
I came to work and there was all kinds of food here for a celebration. Mexican food laid out buffet-style. Donuts. Cake. Fruit. Chips.
I looked at it all and thought "none of this has anything to do with me."
I resisted it all ...

In case anybody wants to know anything about my weight/height/diet history:
I'm 5'4" and 135 pounds, which puts me at the high end of normal for BMI (23.2). I've been slowly but steadily gaining weight since college. In the late nineties I weighed 110 pounds and wore a size 4; as I approach age 40 ...

So I'm at work. Today the room has seen an endless parade of snacks. Donuts were brought in. Pizza was brought in. And there's a long counter with an array of cookies and chips for sale.
I'm so, so glad I found the No S diet. Normally I'd be grazing on everything in sight; not out of hunger, just ...

My first two S-days were Monday and Tuesday, and they were fine.
Yesterday was an N-day. It was a little weird due to travel, but I feel good about what I ate. (Normal breakfast, normal lunch. Dinner was a snack box on the airplane which included an assortment of foods including two Oreo cookies ...

The author William Clower, who wrote "The French Don't Diet," recommends exactly what you say, having what he calls an "ender." He says it is often a small piece of chocolate, although he says it could be nuts. He says it could also be tea or coffee.
It could be cheese! Like some really good brie ...

Well this is embarrassing, but I've already had a FAILURE (this is my 3rd day). I had a good breakfast and a healthy lunch, but even though tomorrow is first S-day, I could not stop thinking about the box of chocolate macadamia nut clusters in the cabinet. I had one ...

I was wondering this same thing. Today is only my third day of No-S and I've already had a failure. (My first two days were successes).
I'm used to having a small sweet treat to "finish off" a meal. This was a habit I picked up in France. At my host family's house, we would always finish off lunch ...

I first read about the No-S diet years ago, but I started it today.
I haven't had dinner yet, but I'm going to mark this first day as a SUCCESS because later I won't be in front of a computer.
I had breakfast this morning before going to work. Sometime during the day today, I started thinking ...

CHEESE POPCORN
Sitting at the receptionist's desk. Within my line of vision. Taunting me.
I don't have a problem with sweets, but I LOOVE salty snacks.
So far I've been good.
5:00 can't come soon enough.

5/21/2007 FAILURE
When I got home from work I had a pickle. Then I had some strawberries before bedtime. Not serious calorie-wise, but it does violate the letter of the No-S diet.

Fruit juice?
I "need" a glass of juice in the morning with breakfast or I'm not right with the world. I only buy 100% juice; no corn syrup or added sugar. Still pretty sweet, though.
Is this an S? I can't get going without that jolt of fruit-sugar, so I'm just going to tell myself it's OK and drink it anyway.
