Marmalade

Post by Mustloseweight »

Made from oranges and sugar. Tart and quite sour to the taste.

Is marmalade a sweet? Like sour orange jam.

Probably same as jam/jelly. If you have to really think about it, probably it's OK. If you're eating gobs and gobs, it could be an issue.

If it doesn't taste sweet it's fine. It's not No Sugar, it's No Sweets. I do count sweet marmalade as an S though.

I eat peanut butter and jelly for lunch sometimes and I would not consider that as a sweet.

My rule is the dessert test: if it's sweet enough that I could imagine it being considered a dessert, it's an S. Context is key here; it's not about ingredients, but the meal itself. Would anyone consider a PB&J dessert? I don't think so. So it's OK in my book. A bowl full of marmalade straight up? Yes -- though a rather unappealing one.
