Re: Podcast #104: Aristocal

Move or delete. that's a great approach.
April has been a bit hectic, i have to get back on track in the following 4 weeks on all plans but mostly home office setup and discipline, so i might give calendar another go, call it May trial period.

For work hours, currently i'm testing out a lifeloggish ...

Re: Checking In

Hi Dave!
Kudos on the one meal a day practice.
It has worked pretty well for me in the past, it still does when i do it . Sometimes even only three times a day can be too much slots for messing up. I don't always do it as i live with wife and 2 kids so it can be difficult to align. But it also goes ...

Re: Podcast #104: Aristocal

Many times have I tried to weave habits (repeatable tasks) into a calendar. But it failed.. Time passes much faster than I am able to pay attention / review a calendar app, even when i nail down the time boxing part. Also, no easy way to tick off actually done tasks...

However i like the self ...

Re: Podcast #93: Weekend Luddite 2025: The Rules, The Persona

I have come up and beta testing "Even hours luddite".
The rule - Only engage in problematic screen behaviour at full odd hours, for cca 10 minutes. Not a full odd hour mark? Forget it and move on to something else.
This keeps my instagram addiction afloat, my mail/instant messaging responses ...

Re: How often do y'all weigh yourselves?

Weighing and tracking helped me notice a yearly trend: Usually all my good and productive efforts are during spring, when i get a couple of really good compliance and loss months under my belt.

Then, during early summer i plataeau halfway to my goal. So on one hand i feel really good about progress ...

Re: Podcast #103: Rule Burden, Decision Burden

Yes, you got it right, pairs great with housework, dishes, or as i like to put it, any kind of "walking" activity (done on foot) that doesnt require talking (or active thinking, which is similar). It does pair well with some mundane "sitting" activities also, like a bit of regular maintenence on the ...

Re: Podcast #103: Rule Burden, Decision Burden

At last! Great episode, even though i've secretly been wishing for an i.d.defaults episode. But, no complaints. Since it was vaguely announced for maybe sometime this year, it's cool to wait around for it. As a quote (paraphrase actually) from the "Paradox bullets" movie says (spoken by W. Herzog ...

Re: Podcast #101: State of the Systems 2025

Here's a contribution to the philosophy of the greenishness concept:

Plants appear green, because they absorb red and blue sunlight wavelenghts, and reflect (reject) green!
At first counterintuitive to our eyes, but also this doesn't make sense because green sun spectrum is the most powerful ...

Re: Podcast #100: Mantrafication Clip Show

Congrats on the 100!

The way i remember mantrafication from previous episodes (prior to this one) is I remembered
the mantras concept, which i thought to be very useful, but i totally forgot
the system included listening to the actual recording! I remembered daily repetition concept,
but i somehow ...

Re: Podcast #99: Bracket Journaling

Reinhard,
so personal punchcards have always been one of my favourite Everyday systems,
because the revolutionary do-it-all approach. I have used it forever now.
But there were few issues with the original (and redux) versions:

1. the card as a medium - i love it, but im not much of a wallet guy ...

Re: Podcast #99: Bracket Journaling

That was beautifully insane to read. Promoting a small t to capital T, by putting a line on top? Veering into direction, like a tornado? As if the bracketing and scheduled reviewing wasnt cool enough in itself.

I keep a really thick file with collection of vomit-papers, dating back to early 2000s ...

Meal timing / frequency / content?

What is everyone's experience with meal timing?

Currently I'm finding weightloss success and overall daily routine simplicity in having the meals in a more narrow time window.

Turns out it is much more doable to withstand longer period without food than hover from meal to meal constantly.

For ...

Re: How often do y'all weigh yourselves?

I'm team everyday at the moment, tracking it in Libra app... such a nice app.

Nice and fun to see numbers and fluctuations, averages and trends over time.
I like seeing the immediate difference when i really put effort in compliance.

Also very useful to see the weight creeping in over several ...

Re: Sammy's Daily Check In

Great to hear 3 meals is working!
When do you have the meals?

I had big issue stretching the meals across the day, trying to push dinner later so i wouldnt have night cravings which are really hard to control. But it didnt work.

Turns out, the opposite works: if i have dinner really early, like ...

@Reinhard - i would totally opt for a spreadsheet too, in fact i did many times.. at some point i had a shared fitness log spreadsheet with my sister in which we shared accountabilty and microblog one line (row) journaling. Recently she dug it up and man did we laugh hard at some of the entries ...

Re: Podcast #96: Greenishness

As of recently i am using the Loop Habit tracker for Android.
I think it incorporates almost exactly the Greenishnes.
As you track the habit, it keeps the score based on statistical method called "exponential smoothing".
In essence:
- a day or two missed wont affect the score much
- more recent ...

Re: To people not on the Facebook Group

I've been on FB group for a long time, and also for a long time it was the only thing that interested me on FB. It was good. I was a FB group "native", as i wasnt really active here before.
But then another thing/issue triggered me to leave FB whatsoever and I havent looked back since. But i did ...
