Hypothyroidism
I just had my thyroid checked and it came back underactive. No wonder I have been feeling lousy and finding it hard to lose weight. The results were:

Yes, of course. I wasn't suggesting anybody actually eat 400 calories a day. But at 1200 or 1500 calories a day, you're not exactly starving yourself. You're just taking in fewer calories than you are burning during the day, and that's the definition of weight loss.

The dieter's lost weight but then put it all back and then some.

goops - Goodness gracious. How does one even drink 18 cans of diet coke per day. I would be so gassy!!
Planner lady - I would only drink the soda on S days and only 1 or 2 cans per day. Completely remove it from your diet during the No S days and drink plenty of water. Your body will thank you for ...

If you don't already know I personally believe low-carb is healthier for me. So, anyway here in Australia in one of our magazines there was a full page ad that said something like "Its High in Protein" and you turn the page and its a picture of Special K. That annoyed me because they are now trying ...

I was born in Europe and we came to live in Australia in 1970. In our family mum cooked traditional food which was lots of soups and casseroles. We rarely had dessert as it wasn't part of our culture. Mum and dad grew up in a village where they grew their own vegies, milked the cow etc. It would be ...

Shovelglove stirring
I had an idea for another shovelglove move (unless its already one).
What if you do stirring movements. Hold the sledgehammer in front of you with two hands and pretend you a stirring something. Make big circles going right and then change and go left. Uses your biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, abs.

I guessed my weight the other day and I was very close. So instead of having 22 pounds to lose I have 24 pounds. I thought I would weigh myself so that I can see if I am making any progress. I will not weigh again for about a month. I'm one of those people whose mood is affected by the scales so I ...

Are you making those pizzas free-form, or do you have little pizza pans to use? I have never made mini-pizzas, only the full-size ones; that sounds like fun!
Of course, it is really hot here in the Midwest U.S. now, and I am doing everything I can to not turn on the oven. Mini pizzas would fit in ...

Snazzybabe's Road to Health and slimness
Its the weekend so I'm not going to start until Monday. I'll be doing low-carb with some snacks on the weekends.
Just made about 10 mini pizzas for myself, the hubby and my two boys - 3yr old and 6 yr old. Very yummy pizzas, but very filling. Couldn't eat them all so I'll pop the remainder in the ...

All I meant was that while I'm certain there are biochemical ways of causing your body to lose weight, the reason most people are bigger now then they were 50, 100, 200 years ago is not because the chemical make-up of the food we eat is different. It's that the amount of food is different and the ...

Thanks guys for the welcome.
I've got that French Book on hold at my library so hopefully I'll get a copy soon. I recall reading an extract from it where she pointed out that when you eat your 3 meals you should sit and just focus on the meal. Alot of people eat on the go and grab a snack here and ...

Remember though, there are 2 aspects of "toning", as I understand it: 1) firming and shaping the muscle, and 2) removing fat from on top of the muscle so it becomes visible. The more fat resides in one's upper arms, the harder it will be to see muscle changes underneath (especially when the muscles ...

I read this on the No S page:
If you feel the need to take a systematic approach towards nutrition too, be my guest. The nosdiet is compatible with pretty much every other diet plan I've come across. You can be a No-S/Vegan if you want (shudder). You could even do No-S plus Atkins, or No-S/Zone if ...

No S Diet - My Thoughts
No Snacks, No Sweets, No Seconds
Just thought I'd let you know my thoughts on the 'No Sweets'.
I consider sweets to refer to: sugar, honey, orange-juice, chocolate, lollies, white bread, white flour, white pasta etc.
A lot of the stuff I mentioned you will know it as carbohydrate but your body does ...
